00:00
all right so here we go again tonight
00:03
we’re doing shocks this is a rear shock
00:06
for my JK you back here Jake through
00:10
there
00:11
Deutsche Tech shocks gonna stick around
00:15
here somewhere
00:16
Deutsch deck there from iron Rock
00:22
off-road in Minnesota got the proper
00:27
boots for them they’re hydraulic shocks
00:29
most shocks that you get aftermarket or
00:33
nitrogen filled shocks
00:34
so they’ll automatically just come
00:37
spring it out of the tube
00:39
these do not they’re hydraulic shocks so
00:42
what we’re gonna do is they come just
00:46
like this with the rubber bushings
00:48
installed in the eyes so what I’ve got
00:51
to do is hammer the sleeve into the
00:57
bottom and then slide the adapter for
01:05
the top of the shock
01:07
through the eye on the top that’s what
01:11
we’re gonna do
01:14
take the shocks off of the Jeep which
01:16
we’ll do in a little bit requires 18
01:20
millimeter so I’ve got 18 millimeter
01:22
wrench of 8mm 18 millimeter 1/2 inch
01:25
drive socket on the top that’s where the
01:28
bottom on the top for the bolts is 16
01:31
millimeter so I’ve got a 16 millimeter
01:33
deep with a long extension for that it’s
01:38
pretty simple I mean it’s a 1 bolt on
01:41
the bottom with a nut and a washer and a
01:42
lock washer and two bolts on top it’s
01:44
very simple to replace from your shocks
01:46
in most vehicles there’s no real easy
01:52
way I say that and this is just gonna
01:55
slide in you can use some grease which I
01:59
have right here from when I was doing
02:00
the flex joints you can put a little bit
02:02
of grease inside to help the sleeve
02:06
slide in and with a properly for the
02:13
proper size sleeve it should just slide
02:17
right in with a little bit of pressure
02:19
so we’ll just use my big pliers
02:23
see if we can get it to slide in instead
02:25
of me beating it up
02:36
easy
02:49
much better that way than adding a lot
02:52
of stress and strain on the on the
02:54
sleeve itself this put a little bit of
03:00
grease get a big pair of pliers squeeze
03:02
it in there no problem
03:04
same with the same with the top a little
03:08
bit of grease
03:10
on the inside of the bushing and this
03:14
should just slide right in you can
03:15
grease grease up this end as well just
03:18
to make it easier and always wipe it off
03:20
later I like to grease that grease of
03:24
the inside of the bushing anyway so that
03:26
it’s not tight and it kind of moves
03:31
freely when the shock is doing what it’s
03:35
supposed to be doing
03:47
it’s really the only tried-and-true
03:50
method
04:03
a little bit of grease and it’s true
04:10
that’s it the sleeves are in assembled
04:16
I’ll put the shocked boot on because a
04:21
lot of people don’t run shock boots but
04:23
I’m a fan if you’re going in a lot of
04:26
water you go in a lot of mud then this
04:31
piston is going to eventually fail
04:37
because you’re going to get enough mud
04:39
and grit grit on here is gonna equate to
04:43
wearing additional wear and tear that
04:45
you really don’t need to have on the
04:51
shock if you just mount to the boot a
04:57
boot easy day still still a easy day
05:08
all right
05:11
it’s all down and the groover supposed
05:14
to be normally there’s a groove at the
05:16
top of the shock boot it fits into the
05:22
flat disc on top and then it comes with
05:27
handy-dandy zip tie to hold the boot to
05:31
the shock
05:39
get a position right so you don’t waste
05:41
a zip tie
05:45
crank it down
05:52
hands are greasy so
05:57
diagonal cutters cut it off don’t cut
06:02
the boom alright so now we’ve got shocks
06:05
I did one earlier so now we’ve got two
06:08
rear shocks assembled easy piece of cake
06:14
that didn’t take very long at all
06:16
alright next step removing the old
06:21
Teraflex four inch lift shock to put the
06:27
Deutsche Tech 6-inch lift shock be right
06:32
back alright race fans jeepers we’ve
06:39
built the shock put the bar pin through
06:44
got the Bhutan pin through the bottom of
06:49
the bushing and now we need to remove
06:54
the old shock
06:58
as I sold you earlier we got a
07:01
16-millimeter on top so as you can see
07:06
it right up here
07:11
right here and right here there’s two
07:13
bolts 16 millimeter all right and it
07:20
doesn’t they’re not on well its they’re
07:24
relatively tight they have to be there’s
07:27
a torque I’m sure you can look it up and
07:29
make sure but you know what I undo some
07:31
these sorry
07:32
loosen these prior to this so we got a
07:36
ratchet and a socket and a deep socket
07:39
and a deeper expansion that’s what
07:42
you’re going to use to take that off I
07:46
have air tools makes things a little
07:56
quicker easier when you go the right
07:59
direction
08:10
I mean they were already loose they were
08:19
coming off anyway just two bolts and
08:25
again the bottom is the eighth the
08:26
bottom is at 18 18 millimeter which I
08:31
have right here so just put the wrench
08:37
on the one side since I’m already
08:41
loosened it that’s it my bad connection
08:54
just tapping the tapping the bolt out
09:04
pull the shock or use the crowbar that I
09:10
have handy right here the head just fall
09:20
out that’s it there you go
09:30
one bolt with a nut on the bottom two on
09:35
the top easy peasy
09:42
to do is grab our new shock put it up
09:51
and in
10:03
I have the same thing with the other
10:06
side you need a little bit more a little
10:12
bit more room they get in their normal
10:18
shock would just slide in just like that
10:22
easy easy day of course I am be shocks a
10:28
little bit bigger punch that out a
10:33
little bit right down into place slide
10:38
that bolt through the hole
10:57
I said put your bolt put your nut on the
11:06
other side of it just to hold it in
11:09
place so it doesn’t pop out cuz you got
11:15
these to put in the top so I’m gonna
11:18
rotate rotate your bar left in the right
11:23
direction and screws the bolts should go
11:27
through the you of the bar holding it
11:31
into place
11:32
there is a bar pin replacement that is a
11:37
lot more secure if you’re if you’ve had
11:43
trouble with these which I never have so
11:47
I’ve never even looked into that they’re
11:50
not that expensive thirty forty bucks
11:52
for the and what it does is it puts a
11:58
you don’t have the you the bolts that
12:03
you’re that I’m attaching right now
12:05
actually goes straight through a block
12:08
this hole down a lot more secure yeah I
12:14
got air sitting right over there because
12:20
I never had air for years and years
12:33
I’ve always went which this is good
12:37
adjust in this fast people don’t have
12:40
their so hey you can I can bang it on my
12:46
muffler just like everybody else will
12:47
have to have there
12:59
all right so I got a mostly tight you
13:04
can Center that bar pin in between the
13:09
two so it’s as secure as I as secure as
13:14
possible
13:27
[Music]
13:43
and that’s – alright guys easy on
13:52
grab my 18 put on there take this bad
13:59
boy up put it back on the gun
14:07
run this one down with the air
14:13
I’ve worked in love
14:23
I know you guys like to listen to me
14:26
bang around that’s it rear shocks
14:46
replaced only one thing left to do clean
14:51
that off
14:59
clean it off
15:02
the final touch on that puts sticker on
15:06
it
15:10
mice who’s gonna know what sucks you
15:12
gotta come on everybody Noel jeepers no
15:15
it’s all about shot all those stickers
15:33
all right
15:36
now we’re done
15:39
peace out guys rock on
