Do It Yourself – How To JK_JKU Transmission Shifter Linkage Bushing Fixby Kurt Eadesin Learnon Posted on July 3, 2018February 13, 2021 With two zip ties holding my transmission shifter linkage to the transmission lever, it was time to replace the bushing I have used these on many occasions. They are available at your local parts store (I got these at Advance Auto Parts) For the JK and JKU application the clear bushing works the best and is easiest to install into the linkage To more easily fit the bushing into the linkage I removed the linkage mount from the transmission. It is only 2 bolts. Very simple. It drops down and you have plenty of room to work on the linkage This is the linkage mount location. (Linkage Mount removed) This is the end of the shifter linkage at the transmission with the New Bushing fully installed. It pops in with some pressure. I used a channel lock pliers to squeeze it in easier Transmission Shifter Linkage re-attached to the transmission shifter lever This fix was tested the next day on a trip to Rausch Creek Offroad Park. No issues.
